Sophie Neupauer is a Consultant at eftec. Since joining the core team in September 2018, she has worked on projects across most service areas at eftec, including natural capital accounting, environmental valuation and chemicals policy. She has helped with the development of a natural capital account for Scottish Natural Heritage’s land, provided research for biodiversity valuation guidance for the Forestry Commission, and valued several ecosystem services for the Welsh Government. Sophie is currently responsible for producing outputs and assisting with the development of the natural capital accounts for two Overseas Territories as part of a Darwin+ funded project.
She co-authored the article ‘Natural capital accounts: nations and organisations’, featured in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Policy in 2019.
Sophie holds a BSc in Economics with Econometrics from the University of Kent and an MSc in Ecological Economics at the University of Edinburgh. Her postgraduate dissertation involved investigating the motivations, opportunities, and challenges of applying the Natural Capital Protocol to land-based businesses in Scotland
