envecon 2023 - Returning to The Royal Society

Last Friday, we returned to The Royal Society for envecon 2023: the first in-person envecon since the pandemic and the first ever hybrid envecon.

Russell Drummond, Senior Consultant at eftec, presented our upcoming work for Defra on valuing the benefits of species recovery through stated preference methods in a habitat quality framing. Allan, eftec Director, and Ece, CEO, also chaired a session each.

Presentations on novel research in economic valuation, climate change impacts, climate change policy, and energy were delivered by an international cohort of professional economists, researchers, and PhD students. 130 delegates joined in-person, and many more online, from business, public, and academic backgrounds.

Recordings of envecon 2023 will be made available to UKNEE members. You can become a member and view the benefits of membership here. You can also view the conference agenda here.

What Next for Nature? Delivering on COP15's Promises

Watch Ian Dickie, Director, speak at this Aldersgate Group webinar

At the end of February, eftec Director Ian Dickie spoke about the next steps the UK can take following COP15 at a webinar run by Aldersgate Group (of which eftec is a member).

Ian was part of a distinguished panel featuring Kiran Sehra (Aviva Investors), Rt Hon Thérèse Coffey MP (Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs), Beccy Speight (RSPB), Margot Greene (WSP) and Alice Ritchie (WWF, Tesco).

The webinar follows the agreement of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework at COP15 and the publication of the UK's Environmental Improvement Plan. The Secretary of State delivered a keynote speech, which was followed by reflections from the panel on what must come next for international nature policy and the UK's role in protecting the environment.
